How the full moon affects your body and your emotions (and why you feel it so intensely)

You sleep worse, your emotions are running high and everything feels a little more intense than usual. Coincidence? According to astrology, no. The full moon has more influence on you than you imagine.
What happens during a full moon?
A full moon happens when the Sun and the Moon are exactly opposite each other, with the Earth in between. The Moon is fully lit and at its most powerful. Astrologically, this is the high point of the lunar cycle: everything set in motion over the past few weeks now comes to the surface.
In astrology, the full moon stands for culmination, clarity and release. What you no longer need, what has been sitting below the surface for too long, now comes up. That can show up as a deep conversation you have been putting off, a decision that finally gets made, or an emotion that suddenly feels much stronger than expected. The full moon does not create anything new: it lights up what was already there.
Why does the Moon affect us?
The Moon exerts a measurable pull on the Earth — we see it in the ocean tides. Our bodies are made up of roughly sixty per cent water. It is not so strange, then, that the Moon should also act on us.
Astrologically, the Moon governs our emotions, our unconscious and our intuition. During a full moon, that influence reaches its peak. Feelings are heightened, reactions can be stronger, and your inner voice speaks louder than usual. Not everyone feels it with the same intensity, but sensitive people almost always notice it.
Were you born under a full moon?
Then you carry that energy with you always. People born under a full moon tend to be intense, emotionally aware, and to have a strong sense of others.
They are also people of extremes: they rarely do things by halves. In love, at work, in friendship, they give everything or nothing. That makes them special, but sometimes also exhausting for themselves. The challenge for full-moon people is learning to let go: not holding on to everything, not needing to fix everything.
Not sure whether you were born under a full moon? You can check easily by looking up your date and time of birth in a lunar calendar or on an astrology site.
